Photo description: Background textured almost like felt, the colours are pink, purple and blue. On the left-hand side of the graphic are the words “Online Bi+ Ireland Meetup Self Care on Zoom Saturday 16th January 2021 8pm-9pm. Don’t forget to sign up.” On the right-hand side are the outline of a laptop, phone and headphones. On the laptop screen is a pair of arms hugging a heart. On the phone's screen is a pink heart with a first aid cross in the centre.

Welcome to Bi+ Ireland chats on Zoom: Self Care Edition on Saturday 16th January at 8pm. For privacy reasons we ask you to fill out this form if you wish to participate. On the day, we will send you an email containing the link and password to join the meetup, if you don’t receive it by 12pm please pm us.

During this zoom, we will be inviting people to share their top self-care tips. Self-care looks different for so many people. For some it's video games, for some it's drawing, for some, it's a hot bath, etc. The hope is by sharing self-care tips, then we may pick up new ones or remember old ones.

What to Expect from a Bi+ Ireland Zoom

Whatever you feel most comfortable doing, is what you should be doing. This zoom, like all Bi+ Ireland events, is there for the enjoyment and comfort of our members and that means different things to different members but each is valid.

Like always our meet-ups are open to all adults under the Bi+ Umbrella and their friends, partners, carers etc.
If multiple people from the same household are participating, you could all, of course, join us on the one video call.

First time going to a Bi+ Ireland Meetup? Not yet a member of our lovely online community group? Feel free to send us a message and our volunteers can add you to the group and look out for you on the day.

For the purpose of this event, we will be hosting over Zoom.
We will be using a paid version of Zoom so there is end-to-end encryption on the call. A link to the zoom meeting and its password will be sent on the day. You are not required to download Zoom onto any device as you can access the meeting through any web browser. Nor do you have to sign up to zoom.

Important to Note
  • Saturday 16th January 2021
    • Starting at 8pm. Finishing at 9pm.
  • Like all Bi+ Ireland events, this event puts consent first and foremost, you can choose if you have your mic and camera on or not, at any point.
    • You can type comments as well/ instead of using your voice .
  • If you are running late, don’t worry pop into the call whenever you are free. Likewise, feel free to leave at any stage. Whether you are there for 5 minutes or the hour, we will be happy to know you were there.
  • Feel free to work away on crafts, knitting, colouring or such, if you like to keep your hands busy as you talk.
  • If possible please wear headphones with a mic. This helps improve audio and reduces the amount of feedback in the call.
  • You can have a public chat in the chat function, but no private messaging anyone
    • Please note, there will be Bi+ Ireland volunteers keeping an eye on the chat.
  • Please use "content notices" if you are about to talk about sensitive or potentially triggering topics.
    • If you're talking about a situation that is sensitive for you it might be helpful if you clearly say if you're looking for sympathy or if you're looking for solutions - but you don't have to do that .
  • In the interest of consensual interactions we are implementing a "badge" policy, which we learnt from another group.
Just rename yourself to include the first letter of the colour badge you feel is appropriate.
Eg: G -Alex, O - Aaron, R - Eliza,
  • Green (G) means I'd like to interact so please chat with me & I might not speak out myself.
  • Orange (O) means prior permission - I only want to interact with people whom I've given permission.
  • Red means - (R) I'm here, but not up for any kind of interaction
  • No colour means you'll manage things as they come .
  • You can change badges/ colour things many times during a conversation but just remember it might take others a few seconds to notice.
  • Volunteers will have a V badge
  • This is a Bi+ Ireland event and as such our guidelines are in play. Remember to respect each other, act in good faith and know that no racism, sexism or lgbt-phobia will be tolerated.

Bi+ Ireland Zoom Book Club - Feb 2021

6/1/2021

On the left hand side is the Bi+ Ireland logo. On the right hand side is the words

Welcome to the first meeting of the Bi+ Ireland book club on Saturday 6th February at 8pm. For privacy reasons we ask you to fill out this form if you wish to participate. On the day, we will send you an email containing the link and password to join the meetup, if you don’t receive it by 12pm please pm us.

What is the Bi+ Ireland Book Club?
This is a non-traditional book club.

The aim is to have a monthly video call on the first Saturday of each month. Each month members will be invited to come on the call and talk about books, etc they have read that month or in the process of reading: even if you want to bring along an old favourite book. We can talk about the topic of the book, what we like about the book, dislike, would we recommend it? All from another a non-spoiler context unless the group on the day in question have no problem having spoilers.

We can discuss whatever our reading habits happen to be: non-fiction, fiction, YA, Autistic books, fanfics, etc

This method means people aren’t under pressure to buy or borrow a specific book. They aren’t under pressure to read a set amount in a month. They aren’t under pressure to read something they don’t like. We all get to widen our literary knowledge by hearing what others are reading.

In between zooms we can talk books over at our discord. If you like to join our discord please pm Bi+ Ireland

New Years

31/12/2020

As we finally approach the end of this 2020, we would like to thank you all for being here with us and help us feel connected despite everything.
This year has definitely not been easy for anyone and we share all your grief, frustration and sadness. "We share".
In these hard times, we have been together, and each day we made it through was a huge achievement that you really should be proud of. So, if you are reading this, that is 366 achievements, at least! Feel proud. Feel very proud!
As we start 2021 in less than ideal conditions, we can just wish you loads of hope, that you are able to find joy in the small things, and that you celebrate every single success, no matter how small.
Hopefully one day we will be able to celebrate all of them together in person, and we are totally looking forward to it!!!
But as for now, we will keep being here, one way or another, celebrating each of your successes and supporting you from the other side of the screen.
Thank you for doing the same for us
Loads of love,
Bi+ Ireland Volunteer Team

Trans Mental Health Week

13/11/2020

Hey,
As you may know we at Bi+ Ireland are striving to host one event a week until approximately Christmas time.
As you may also know next week is Trans Mental Health Week.
Because of this, we are encouraging our trans members and volunteers, in particular, to engage in self-care. Self-care can be a difficult task for many people. Self-care can be a radical act, but it is a very important task. To respect the need for self-care in our trans members and volunteers, we have taken the decision not to host an event next week. Instead, we encourage people to support TENI programme of events. By not hosting a Bi+ Ireland event, we are allowing our trans volunteers to attend TENI events without any feeling of obligation to the Bi+ Ireland community. We hope you can all understand
