Bi+ Ireland is pleased to announce our first Midweek Zoom Hangout.

When
Wednesday 5th April from 7.30 PM to 9.30 PM
For privacy reasons, we ask you to fill out this form - https://forms.gle/GirL5py53jXKWFyu9 - if you wish to participate. On the day, we will send you an email containing the link and password to join the meetup. If you don’t receive it, please PM us on Facebook or Instagram.

What is a Zoom Hangout?
This is an online space for members of the community can log on and meet other members. You can pop into the call whenever you are free and stay for as long or short as you are available. Feel free to leave and come back at any stage. Whether you are there for 5 minutes or the whole time, we will be happy to know you were there. There will be a Host/Facilitator there to keep it a safe and welcoming space.

How does it work?
Community members come onto zoom to chat about whatever is on their minds, Bi-related or not. If you want to chat, ask questions, look for advice or simply vent – it is a space for everyone in the community. There is no pressure to talk, so you can participate as much or little as you feel. This Zoom, like all Bi+ Ireland events, is there for the
enjoyment and comfort of our members, and that means different things to different members, but each is valid.
Feel free to work away on crafts, knitting, colouring or such if you like to keep your hands busy when you are in the space.

Feeling nervous
Like all Bi+ Ireland events, this event puts consent first and foremost. Your camera can be on or off. Your microphone can be on or off. You can type comments in the chat box as well/ instead of using your voice. If members want to just dial in and listen, we are glad to provide a space that caters for their comfort level.

Important to remember
This is a Bi+ Ireland event, and as such, our guidelines are in play. Remember to respect each other, act in good faith and know that the Host/Facilitator will step in if they deem it necessary to keep the space safe and welcoming for all.

Bi+ Ireland Online Book Show and Tell

On the left-hand side is the Bi+ Ireland logo. On the right-hand side are the words

Welcome to the Bi+ Ireland Book Show and Tell. With the new year, it is an excellent opportunity to refresh our non-traditional book club with a name that better reflects what our monthly Zoom meetups are about.
For privacy reasons, we ask you to fill out this form if you wish to participate. On the day, we will send you an email containing the link and password to join the meetup. If you don’t receive it by noon, please PM us on Facebook or Instagram.

What is the Bi+ Ireland Book Show and Tell?

We used to describe this event as a non-traditional book club because we do not read a set book every month. This remains true, but the title of ‘book club’ may have given the impression that people needed to attend every month or, at least, regularly. While we love seeing community members attend regularly, we want to emphasise that Book Show and Tell is open to everyone interested in chatting about books.

You are welcome to join us even if you haven’t attended before. You also do not have to commit to attending every month. Please feel free to drop by whenever you get the chance, even if you don’t know how often that will be.

Bi+ Ireland Book Show and Tell is an online event, so we meet over Zoom on the third Saturday of each month. We invite our community members to come on the call and talk about the books they have read that month or are in the process of reading. You can bring along an old favourite book and sing its praises.

We can discuss the book's topic, what we like about it, dislike, and whether we recommend it. We want to keep things spoiler-free unless the group on the day in question decides that they are okay with sharing spoilers.

Are you a non-fiction reader? Or is fiction more your thing? You may enjoy reading YA. Are you interested in Bi+ books? Maybe Sci-Fi or Fantasy are your genres of choice. Or is fanfic where you do most of your reading? Some of you answered yes to more than one of these questions, which is great! Whatever your reading tastes and habits, we look forward to hearing about them.

Book Show and Tell is where we share our love of reading without the pressure to buy or read a specific book. There is no pressure to finish a book we are not enjoying. There is also no pressure to read a certain number of books each month. We all widen our literary knowledge by hearing what others are reading.

In between Zooms, we can talk books over at our Discord. If you like to join our Discord, please PM Bi+ Ireland on Facebook or Instagram.

What to Expect from a Bi+ Ireland Zoom

Whatever you feel most comfortable doing is what you should be doing. Like all Bi+ Ireland events, this Zoom is there for the enjoyment and comfort of our members. We know this means different things to different members, but each is valid.
Like always, our meetups are open to all adults under the Bi+ Umbrella and their friends, partners, carers etc.

If multiple people from the same household are participating, you could join us on one video call.

Is this your first time going to a Bi+ Ireland meetup? Not yet a member of our lovely online community group? Feel free to send us a message, and our volunteers can add you to the group and look out for you on the day.

We will use a paid version of Zoom, so the call has end-to-end encryption. A link to the Zoom meeting and its password will be sent on the day. You are not required to download Zoom onto any device, as you can access the meeting through any web browser. Nor do you have to sign up for Zoom.

Important to remember

This is a Bi+ Ireland event, and our guidelines are in play. Remember to respect each other, act in good faith and know that we will not tolerate racism, sexism, or LGBT-phobia.
